Our clinic specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI), which has been recognized as the recommended treatment for insomnia (above medications) by a number of medical organizations, including teh American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. CBTI is a relatively brief treatment program that usually works in 6-8 sessions to eliminate insomnia. It has been shown to be effective even if patients also have depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, other psychiatric disorders, chronic pain, and other conditions. It is even effective for cancer survivors and others, such as older adults, who wish to reduce their medication intake.

Despite the well-documented effectiveness of CBTI, and the fact that it is the recommended first line treatment, there are still not enough practitioners out there. We hope that our full-service clinic will also serve as an effective training program to help increase awareness of CBTI among doctors as well as patients!

In addition to CBTI, the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic can help with the diagnosis and/or treatment of other sleep disorders, including:

  • Circadian rhythm sleep disorders
  • Sleep apnea
  • Restless legs syndrome
  • Narcolepsy
  • Parasomnias
  • Periodic limb movement disorders
  • And other sleep disorders

Also, our clinic specialized in complex cases of sleep difficulies arising from:

  • Depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric illness
  • Work and life stress
  • Chronic pain, injuries, and post-concussive syndromes
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Neurologic complications
  • Other medical problems

As part of the Banner University Medical Center, we accept most insurance carriers. If you are not sure if we take your insurance, you can check when you call the appointment line.
